Jill Zarin: My Husband Bobby Zarin's Cancer Has Returned

Publish date: 2024-09-02

Jill Zarin is trying to stay positive. The Real Housewives of New York City alum reveals to Us Weekly that her husband Bobby Zarin’s cancer has returned.

“We received the news last week that Bobby’s cancer has spread to his brain,” Jill, 52, told Us in a statement on Tuesday, November 22. “I am grateful to our team of doctors including Dr. Ron DePinho who is guiding Bobby’s treatment along with Dr. Steven Sherman. Dr. Jeffrey Weinberg, and Dr. Mary McAleer are leading the gamma knife radiation team next week at MD Anderson in Houston, where Bobby will undergo treatment.”

“We remain strong during this difficult time with the love and support of our family, friends, and fans who remind us that we are not alone in our fight against cancer,” she continued. “Cancer is a disease that affects people all around the world and we must unite through this common bond, and work together to find a cure once and for all.”

The Bravo star first spoke out about Bobby’s health as the couple attended the Angel Ball in Manhattan on Monday. She broke down in tears while discussing the matter during a red carpet interview with E! News.

Bobby, 70, the owner of Zarin Fabrics, was initially diagnosed with thyroid cancer in June 2009. He had his thyroid removed and underwent a special treatment to kill cancerous cells at the time. In 2013, however, his cancer returned. During a routine checkup, doctors found that his cancer spread to his lungs. They removed the tumors by using the da Vinci Robotic System, in which a surgeon controls a robotic console to conduct the surgery.

Jill is stepmom to Bobby’s children, Jonathan, David and Jennifer. She also has a daughter from a previous marriage, Allyson Shapiro, who appeared frequently during Jill’s four seasons on RHONY.
